Becoming a mom is one of the most amazing, awe-inspiring, gob-smacking, miraculous moments you’ll ever experience.

Hollywood celebrates motherhood with movies of moms in labour, glowing (not sweating), crying (not the ugly cry) while a baby with a perfect shaped head pops out, already cute, clean and donning the sweetest little hat ever.

The written word also celebrates motherhood and there are books on every subject imaginable. “What To Expect When Expecting”, “What To Expect In The First Year”, “Raising Boys”, “Raising Girls”. The list of books, like the wonders of motherhood, is endless. But it’s a little harder to find books like “What NOT To Expect When Expecting”, “How To Wash Yourself With One Hand (while holding screaming baby)”, “I’m Smelly, Exhausted and Suicidal” and there’s definitely no 15 minute manuals for mommies (because that’s the only time you have between a feed, a sleep and a crying fit).
